For those that haven’t yet, meet James, Head of Strategy here at Fogg.
James has been with the business since 2010 and has worked closely with all our clients over that time to help shape and deliver brand and marketing strategies of all shapes and sizes.
We sat down with James to ask him five questions about life at Fogg over the last nine years…
1.Why did you join Fogg?
I joined because I really liked what the business stood for. I could tell from the interview process (which included going to the pub to watch a Champions League game one evening) that it wasn’t just an agency. It was clear that they were really trying to build partnerships with their clients and use the power of strategy and creativity not just to deliver a campaign in isolation but to have a genuine impact on their clients businesses.
Nearly ten years on and this ethos is still very much at the heart of what we stand for.
2.What do you like about life at Fogg?
Firstly, as anyone that has been to office will know, Elaine makes a mean brew!
Secondly, to echo the above, I love how we have a real impact on businesses. We have some really long-standing partnerships with clients and have played our part in transforming their businesses which makes me and all of the team very proud.
Thirdly, it’s been an exciting journey. From working in the US and all over Europe to working with globally recognised artists and winning awards, it’s fair to say that every day is different, more exciting and challenging than the last – it certainly keeps me on my toes!
3.What has been your favourite project so far?
There have been a few over the years… but there are probably two that stand out:
The Shard: working with the team at the Shard has been amazing. We originally met them when the building was only just out of the ground and were lucky enough to have a few visits while the building work was still going on. Since then it’s been fascinating to see the building develop and learn about how it has shaped the lives of so many people. I also feel very lucky to have had the chance to work not only on such an icon but also with the team there, they are fantastic people and have always been so welcoming.
Equity Release Supermarket: from when we first them with a handful of advisers to where they are now, their journey and evolution has been incredible and it’s been amazing to be such a big a part of it. I guess it’s the perfect case study for how we work and how much value we can add to a business… long may it continue!
4.What has been your most memorable moment?
It’s probably longer than a ‘moment’ but we had a trip to New York in 2013 which was pretty amazing. Chris and I had about 24 hours in the city but it’s fair to say we packed in quite a bit.
It started with the opening of our wonderful client, Kelly Reemtsen’s, latest exhibition and launch of the (award winning) book we produced for her. We met Kelly and many of her friends and hobnobbed with some of New York’s most celebrated arts people… we were even asked to sign a few books which was a bit surreal!
After that we headed over to the Empire State Building where another client, AdParlor, had hired a floor of the building and were hosting a party. In between all the festivities we did have a couple of meetings and even managed to find time to visit a few of the city’s great sites. It’s fair to say it was a whirlwind few days in the city that never sleeps but all in all an amazing experience!
5.What does the future hold?
More of the same. I’m really proud to be a part of the team we’ve built here and look forward to helping our existing and future client partners achieve their true potential.
